REMEMBERING A DUTCH PATRIOT: PIM FORTUYN

Good for BA for remembering PF.
I'm in a very bad mood these days. W's pathetic performance the other night makes me fearful for the future of this country. So, on to brighter things. (Irony. Bitterness.)
It was a classic performance by the gay leftoids in San Francisco when Pim Fortuyn was shot down. The local fagrag described him as merely "a renegade Marxist" who "insulted Islam" and "hated immigrants". So, the message is that if you wake up and discover that Marxism is hell masquerading as heaven, you can be described as a "renegade". (That's Leftoid for "heretic"). And he had the nerve, the nerve, that fag did, to insult the Religion of Peace! Can you imagine? What an ungrateful homosexual! Some Muslims might have their feelings hurt and be forced to go out and hang some gay kids from a crane and it will be his fault for upsetting them! No need to mourn his death. He may have been a homo, but he was not a leftist, and that's the crucial thing. (Ask former Black woman, Condoleezza Rice). And if he hated immigrants...(a gross mischaracterization of his position)...maybe he didn't hate them enough.
When large numbers of foreigners come to your country legally, settle down, and over time become part of the country, take up its ways and language and consider this piece of ground home and Americans as their fellows countrymen...this is called immigration. I'm all for it, in America (although I think it is the height of European hubris for those cultures to imagine they can play America. It's tough enough for us, but it's part of our national identity. Not theirs).
But when large numbers of foreigners come to your country illegally, demand special treatment,
overwhelm your social services, and then demand that they be allowed to continue and expand their home culture on your turf, (especially from a country with a hostile history, and right next door, and with an unlimited supply, and with a cultural bias in favor of resentful romanticism over actual accomplishment) and they and their self-hating native allies say that if you resent this, YOU are the one with the problem...this called invasion. And suicide.
Anybody wanna start The Pim Fortuyn Society? (I wish he had an easier name to pronounce...). Maybe in his honor, I'll go out and eat veal with fois grois.

Thanks for the mention, Jeff. Quite an honorable surprise (kind of like when Mark Steyn mentioned you in one of his columns :))!
Keeping Fortuyn in the public eye is morally decent, common sense, and politically shrewd. Perhaps a PF Society, or something similar is already afoot? He's dead, but this subject won't die.

I'm reading While Europe Slept now--brilliant book, thanks for turning me on to Bruce Bawer--and it has to be one of the saddest things I've ever read. The Europe we longed for at one time has disappeared in our lifetimes. Now the Netherlands wants to expel Hirsi Ali.
Europeans are determined to piss on their own graves.

There are many good books out there we all should make time for, READ, and apply in the rest of our lives. Heard of Bawer's but haven't gotten around to it. Just finished Claire Berlinksi's Menace in Europe and Fallaci's The Force of Reason. Am looking forward to Melanie Phillips' Londonistan; Andrew Bostom's The Legacy of Jihad; Bat Ye'or's Eurabia.
