When my daughters were in grade school a new family from Vietnam (last name Vu) was registering their kids at school. When the office secretary looked at the paperwork for the son, she suggested they use his middle name and drop the first..so he was registered as Nyugen Vu.

His real first was Phuc. And yes, it was pronounced that way.
