"Large unassimilated minority whelped on multiculturalism & poisoned by identity politics"

A number of folks "didn't see the connection" I made between these two phenomena when I commented on your blog about this parallel earlier this year. I'm not against legal Latino immigration. I am against unfettered, pandering-to-the-Latino-vote ILLEGAL immigration coupled with de facto bilingualism and multicultural nonsense.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that a common national language and set of basic values is essential for any nation-state to maintain its identity and cohesion? We used to understand this, but don't any longer.

Jeff, you're going to make me cry with posts like this.

Jeff, if you would like to be thanked for your post in English, press 1. Para servicio en espanol, oprima el numero 2.

Once again my keyboard is full of coffee and bits of soggy bran muffin. God, I missed that.

Para servicio en espanol, oprima el numero 2. en este momento.

Ay, lo siento!

I was going to ask how you can stand that place, but then I realized that you thrive on stuff like Nancy Pelosi, the Simpson family, and a city government with its own foreign policy. If Beatty actually becomes governor, you'll probably get yourself cloned.

In fact, we'll need two Jeffs just to keep up with the comic potential in that trainwreck...

He'd HATE it in Flyover Country. Besides, where would he grow his beautiful flowers?

P.S. That last one was SO DEFINITELY wrong. You're like Homer Simpson -- next in line after the League of Women Voters (or, if you prefer, the Sign Guy at the Grand Lake), honey.

For "Festering sump of nihilism" I would nominate Santa Cruz, a reality-free zone.

Posted by: Chrees at November 14, 2005 05:12 PM

Somehow, I seriously doubt that you're California's most annoying export.

Posted by: sadie at November 14, 2005 05:29 PM

The San Jose Mercury runs close behind the SF Chronicle, what's that saying about lead dog?
They seemingly try to change the view somewhat by lifting entire sections straight from the NY Times, and printing more straight AP propaganda and Al-Reuters spin.
Chardonnay is old-hat, after Sideways everything's coming up Merlot.

I suppose Arianna holds that tiara, ha! And I lived in Santa Cruz, which is sort of Berkeley Lite, without all the crime, filth, & street people

Racist! Sexist! Homo Homophobe! The truth hurts though doesn't it? Thanks for the moment of levity, Jeff.

You are definitely not the most annoying export! I think hippie culture is.

Dude, Sideways was all about Pinot Noir (which we do better in ORegon anyways), not Merlot.

Or so I've heard. Shut up!

Posted by: Brian B at November 16, 2005 10:16 AM

My bad, he was going to fight anybody who made him drink Merlot. No you everybody shut up!

Posted by: DirtCrashr at November 17, 2005 11:20 AM

There's street people in Santa Cruz.. they just seem a lot happier than the ones in Berkeley or the city..
