Old story Jeff, why bring it up now?

The 100,000 figure has passed into myth, one hears it all the time, by people who don't even know where it came from, or what junk statistics provided it.

This is exactly what Michael Medved had anticipated as he interviewed a member of the hundertausender club last month. It's sort of like the million (insert liberal noun) march. The fluff never ends. If the left were a woman, it would be Tammy Fay.

Thanks for the link Jeff. Every protest announcement flyer passed out on my campus (which I collect religiously) cites the 100,000 figure prominently.
I knew it was from the Lancet but I've never been able to read the whole thing to see how they arrived at that number--fascinating!

Back when that Lancet study first came out I saw it taken apart by critiques all over the Net, and it made no difference whatsoever. I was pretty sure it would pass into myth, just as Jeff says. The power of the MSM to impose its own version of reality on the facts through the sheer force of repetition is awe-inspiring.
